What is Herbal Medicine?

Share this post on:

Herbal medicine is the practice of using plants to treat illness and improve one’s overall health and well-being. Herbs can interfere with other drugs, so they should be used with caution.

Herbal medications are mostly used for health promotion and treatment of chronic, rather than life-threatening, diseases. Traditional treatments, on the other hand, become more popular when contemporary medicine fails to treat a condition, such as advanced cancer or novel infectious infections.

Herbs include a diverse range of naturally occurring compounds (constituents) with biological action. Herbs are comparable to many medicinal preparations in that they act in a similar way. Plants are still used to make certain medicinal medications.
