Alternating Current

Share this post on:

Alternating Current (AC) is a form of electrical current in which the flow of electrons changes direction at regular intervals or cycles. Alternating current flows through power lines and conventional residential energy that comes from a wall outlet.

In contrast to direct current (DC), which only flows in one direction and cannot vary sporadically, alternating current (AC) is an electric current that periodically reverses its direction.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is surface charge density?

Surface charge density (σ) is the amount of charge per unit area, measured in coulombs per square meter (C⋅m−2), at any point on a two-dimensional surface charge distribution.
